Maxine Joan Williams, the daughter of Loren and Amy (Hoins) Bailey, was born on April 26, 1933, on the farm northeast of Guide Rock. She died June 6, 2021, at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Neb., at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 11 days.

She was baptized at the Beulah Church in Mt. Clare and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Guide Rock. She attended country schools District 17, District 87 and Riverside Country School and graduated from Guide Rock High School. She then moved to Superior where she was employed at Armours and then the Farmers State Bank.

Maxine was united in marriage to Lawrence Williams on Nov. 8, 1959, at the Guide Rock Methodist Church. This union was blessed with three children. Maxine worked alongside her husband in raising cattle and farming in the Nelson area while raising their children.

She was nearly a 60-year member of the United Methodist Church. Attending in Guide Rock, later changing her membership to Nelson, then Superior. She served on many women's committees and held offices in them as well. She also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Highland Club for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Amy; her husband, Lawrence, on May 31, 2013; infant son, Gary; sisters, Phyllis (Carl) Hartman and Marian Ferebee; and a niece, Kathleen "Hartman" (Dwayne) McGinnis.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen (Brenda) Williams of Green, Kan., and Donald (Kandy) Williams of Superior; four granddaughters, Bailey and fiancé, Lucas Hinrichs and Haley Williams, Lindsay "Smith" (Chad) Osborne and Amanda "Smith" Vrbas; five great- grandchildren, Tyler, Kaycee and Lucas Vrbas, Bellamy and Cambrie Osborne; brother-in-law, James Ferebee of Nelson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday), June 10, from the First United Methodist Church in Superior with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating.

Music will be "One Day at a Time," and "In the Garden," sung by Stephanie Thayer with Carlita Price as her accompanist.

Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 to greet friends.

Pallbearers will be Alan Ferebee, Terry Daniels, Bruce Jacobitz, Lucas Hinrichs, Tyler Vrbas and Chad Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Bailey Williams, Haley Williams, Lindsay Osborne and Amanda Vrbas.

Interment will be in the Guide Rock Cemetery at Guide Rock.

Memorials are suggested to go to the First United Methodist Church.
