The Lawrence-Nelson Alumni Association held its annual meeting in the Nelson City Auditorium on Saturday May 29.

Peggy Cassell, president of the alumni association welcomed the graduates and guests.

Royce Schott, president of the Nelson Community Club, gave a description of the digital sign they are wanting to purchase for the community. The sign would be placed on the east side of Main Street next to the community center.

Pastor Ethan Feistner lead the opening prayer. A meal of pork loin, creamed potatoes, green beans, roll and cake for desert, was enjoyed by 190 attendees. The Nelson Community Club, led by John Hodge, prepared the meal. The Lawrence Nelson basketball boys helped with the serving. A free will donation was received for the digital sign.

Peggy called the meeting to order. Roll call was led by Ethan Feistner with each honored class giving a short report. As there was no banquet in 2020 because of COVID, the classes reporting were 46, 51, 55, 56, 60, 61, 65, 66, 70, 71, 75, 76, 80, 86, 90, 91, 95, 2000, and 2006.

Dorrell Lipker read the minutes of the 2019 meeting and gave the treasurer's report. The reports were approved as read. Dorrell also presented two $500 scholarships to Blake Janda and Avery Mazour.

Officers for the 2022 Alumni are, Ethan Feistner, president; Tom Gebers, vice president; Vicki Ensign, secretary; and Terri Oltmans, treasurer.

Donna (Anderson) Gillan

The honored who traveled the fattest was Rosie Jacobitz Titus from Las Vegas, Nev. The oldest honored female award was given to Donna Anderson Gilan, at 85 years of age. The oldest honored male was Red Whitehead at 82 years of age. Three door prize winners received a wooden "Herbie or Little Red" Husker, donated and made by Red Whithead. Peggy thanked the Nelson Community Club for the meal, the American Legion for the bar, Teresa Walton for the table decorations, and Royce Schott for being the photographer.

Ethan made a presentation of a gift certificate to Petal Patch in memory of Leann Lipker thanking Dorrell and Leann for their many years of organizing the alumni banquets.

There meeting was closed with all past cheerleaders standing up and leading the Nelson High School Song.
