Marilyn Walker

 

Marilyn R. Walker, 74, died at the Logan County Hospital in Oakley, Kan. on Thursday. She was born on Aug. 21, 1946, in Garden City, the daughter of Jacob Frank and Martha Baldwin Stillwell.

In 1964, Marilyn graduated from Scott Community High School and returned in 1969 as an elementary school teacher where she taught until 1975 when she moved to Union City, Okla. In 1979 she moved back to Scott City to teach until 2000 and then moved to Jewell County. In 2012 she retired from teaching and moved to West Plains, Mo., in 2013. She moved to Oakley in May of 2021.

She was a member of the Ionia United Methodist Church in Ionia.

On Dec. 18, 1966, she married William K. Walker in Friend, Kan.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Walker of Oakley; one son, Yancey Walker of Oakley; one sister, Marla Stillwell of Asheville, N.C .; and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Whitney Walker.

Marilyn personified the words grit and determination.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m Friday, at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, with the Rev. Larry Danforth presiding. Services will be streamed live on Facebook at Price and Sons Funeral Home page (www.facebook.com/priceandsons ) starting at 1:55 p.m.

Visitation was from 11 a.m until 8 p.m., Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., today at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City.
