Kyrina Beard receives USDF Bronze Medal

Kyriana Beard earned the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Bronze Medal on April 24. The USDF Bronze Medal requirements include six scores of 60 percent or higher: two scores at First Level from two different judges and two different rides, two scores at Second Level from two different judges and two different rides and two scores at Third Level from two different judges and two different rides. Fergie is a 15-year-old Oldenburg mare that Kyriana purchased in early 2019. Little did anyone know they would be welcoming a foal into the mix shortly thereafter on June 17, 2019. This team has worked hard developing trust, respect and a beautiful partnership all while battling the mare's unexpected pregnancy, illnesses and injury. To add to this exciting accomplishment, Kyriana, a member of Stillwater FFA, also won a state championship with her Animal Systems Division 1 Agriscience Fair Project titled "Does the Frequency of Equine Exercise Impact the Return to Normal Heartrate?".

In addition to her dressage endeavors with Fergie, Kyriana also competes in Western Dressage on her 5-year-old Trakehner mare, GiGi. She is also training her almost 2-year-old gelding Simba for a start in Western Dressage and Cutting. Finally, she is raising and showing pigs and has three gilts that she is looking forward to getting into the show ring this summer and fall at the Tulsa State Fair and the National Swine Show.

Kyriana Beard will be a ninth grade student at Stillwater Junior High in Stillwater, Okla. She is the granddaughter of Jim and Janell Beard, Superior residents, and daughter of Kim Beard, former Superior resident.
