Stephen Reves

 


Stephen Michael Reves, 66, of Maize, Kan., died Saturday, June 12, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1954, in Topeka, the son of D. Lyle Reves and Laura Mae (Fenton) Reves. He grew up and attended school in Burlingame, Kan., graduating with the Class of 1972. Steve graduated from an auto repair trade school, and later a Travel College, both in Wichita.

Steve had a 30 plus year career with the Santa Fe Railroad as a track welder. He retired in 2014.

He was united in marriage to Cindy Oltman on Sept. 9, 1988, at Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City, S.D.

Steve was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes, Local 2405 of Newton, Kan. He enjoyed square dancing, crewing for hot air balloons, traveling and time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Reves; and a sister, Joyce Greene.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the home; mother, Laura Reves, of Carbondale, Kan .; brother, Don Reves and wife, Gloria, of Duncan, Neb .; sister, Denise Barr and husband, Jack, of Carbondale; brother-in-law Joe Greene, of Carbondale; many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Steve bequeathed his body to the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

To celebrate Stephen’s life, the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Elm Community Building, 228 Main Street, Carbondale, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to KSDS Assistance Dogs Inc., 120 W. 7th Street, Washington, Kan. 66968 or to the charity of the donor’s choice and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, Kan. 66413.
