2021 Jewell County wheat harvest starts

Saturday, June 26, this crew gathered in a wheat field west of Mankato to prepare wheat for this year's Jewell County Historical Society threshing bee. Bill Thomas drove the tractor which pulled the International Harvester binder operated by Dale Wright. The remainder of the crew shocked the wheat bundles. The first load wheat for the 2021 harvest arrived at the Randall Farmers Co-op Union (Jewell location) Tuesday, June 22. Scott Lienberger brought in the load with 13 percent moisture and a 59.9 pound per bushel test weight. Photo courtesy of Kris Allen.
