The Jewell County Commissioners met Monday, June 21. Commissioners Brent Beck, Steve Greene and Keith Roe were present.

The commissioners approved to sign the corrected letter for the Corrective Action Plan to the Department of Health and Human Services, the Elder Abuse Awareness Month Proclamation for June 2021 and the management representation letter to Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris Chartered.

Kevin Peroutek, emergency preparedness director, provided a copy of the letter from the Office of Recovery stating Jewell County’s SPARKS Funding Project has been reviewed and considered completed and closed as of June 10, 2021.

The commissioners reviewed 2022 budget requests.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, said they are putting gravel in the Webber area and working on a box culvert in the southern part of the county. They continue to wait for delivery of more asphalt to finish the asphalt roads. The commissioners inquired about a tube for a field entrance. Elkins said they are working on it.

Shannon Meier, ambulance director, discussed his 2022 budget request which included a request for an additional EMT to reduce overtime pay. The commissioners discussed other financial factors when adding employees. Carla Waugh asked about the correct position title for Donna Burgess. Shannon said she is the office manager and an EMT.

Kevin Peroutek, EMP director, and Nancy Marihugh, health administrator, discussed the ARP committee. Peroutek is working to update the EOP plan and will submit it for preliminary review with the final plan to be submitted by August. He discussed the LEPC meeting schedule. Marihugh provided an update on COVID-19 vaccines provided. She discussed the ELC health care grant. She said they also were awarded the Patterson Foundation grant.

The commisioners approved the Agreement with Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris Chartered to assist with the preparation for the 2022 budget.
