Janet Parsons

She attended grades 1 through 8 at Hardy and grades 9 through 12 at Sinclair Rural High School, Lovewell, Kan., graduating in 1954.

At 13-years-old, a major 4-H project for Janet was assisting with and keeping records of the family's total remodeling of a farm house southeast of Webber in 1949 and 1950. The family moved there when the renovations were complete.

She married her high school sweetheart from Montrose, Donald L. Parsons, on Jan. 9, 1955, at the Union Church in Hardy. Pastor William Doran was the officiant. They first lived in Mankato, where Janet was employed at the U.S.D.A. office, going there from the Hardy State Bank where she had been employed for one and a half years. Their two children, a son, Lynn and daughter, Marla, were born while living in Jewell County.

Don and Janet moved to Palmdale, Calif., in 1962 and later to Lake Forest, Calif., where Janet was employed at a credit union as a loan processor. She was a member of the D.A.R. She enjoyed attending the local garden club meetings, playing bridge, cooking, knitting, sewing and traveling the world. Don and Janet enjoyed cruises to Malaysia, Scandinavia, Bali, Bahamas, New Zealand and Europe with family and friends. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She died at her home in Lake Forest, Calif., on June 9. She is survived by her husband, Don Parsons; son, Lynn Parsons and his wife, Lisa, at Mission, Kan .; daughter, Marla Gillespie at Calabasas, Calif .; grandchildren: Lucas Parsons and his wife Sara and great grandson, Grant, at Overland Park; Megan (Gillespie) Favre and her husband, Fabrice, at Geneva, Switzerland; Lauren Parsons Dunn and her husband, Daniel, at Kansas City; Chad Gillespie and wife, Jamie, at Topanga, Calif .; brother, James Jensby, and sister-in-law, Jean, at Belleville; sister, June Blair and brother-in-law, Aaron, at North Potomac, Md., and many nieces and nephews.
