Joan Faye "Jody" File

 

Joan Faye "Jody" File, the daughter of Elvin and Ruby (Vignery) McElroy, was born on June 12, 1933, in Jewell City, Kan. She died June 23, at her home near Courtland, at the age of 88 years, and 11 days.

Jody was a 1951 graduate of the Mankato High School. She was a member of the Lovewell Methodist Church where she taught the children's choir. On Feb. 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to Merle Lee File in Jeffersonville, Ind. To this union five children were born. She was a member of the MNO (Monday Night Out) Bridge Club and the 8-12 Bridge Club.

Jody was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin McElroy, Ruby Billing and Millard Billing; an infant son, David John; her husband, Merle; along with two sisters, Darlene Smith and Joyce Bradrick.

She is survived by four children: Jerald File, Superior; Debra Murray of Mankato; James File, (Pat) Courtland; Sharon Kvasnicka (Lane) Andover; eight grandchildren: Cody Murray, Cara Robinson, (Donny); Chrissie Harris, (Morgan); Justin Kvasnicka, Brett Kvasnicka , and Tyler Kvasnicka, Krista McKay, (James); Amanda Reisenweber, (Alex); 13 great- grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends.


Her funeral was held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 28, from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, with Matt Ehlers officiating.

Pallbearers were Cody Murray, Justin Kvasnicka, Tyler Kvasnicka, Brett Kvasnicka, Morgan Harris and Alex Reisenweber. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Broeckelman, Donny Robinson and James McKay.

Interment was in the Rosemound Cemetery, south of Hardy.
