Love my crazy life

We had a busy weekend with all of the holiday festivities. Friday, we were in Oak for the Fourth of July block party and pot luck. I took a cake made by the women at Caps Cafe. Time got away from me like it always does, and I forgot I needed to make a dessert. So last minute, I texted Chelsey and asked if there was any way she could whip one up for me. Then I forgot to take a spatula! Oh well, folks figured it out, and what was left, the boys finished as a snack when we got home. If I could keep my family out of it, I would buy a few made-up casseroles and desserts and keep them in the freezer for these things I always forget!

On Saturday, George and Robert worked in the money pit all day while Jacob and I worked at the pool. Robert had driven me to Hastings earlier in the week to buy more supplies. I have a good-sized panic attack every time we visit the hardware store or the lumber yard. This time we went to purchase an exterior door and three windows. After looking at the prices and contemplating whether we really needed doors and windows, I bought dumb things. All the way home, I nervously watched the bed of the truck and about cried every time a truck flew by in the oncoming lane. We made it home without any trouble, although I will continue to worry until they are installed.

Saturday evening George and I went to enjoy the festivities at the park. I rarely drink much, but I managed to tide one on at the beer garden. We sat with some friends, and different friends stopped by and chatted with us a while throughout the night. Royce played a lot of great music and even managed to get a couple of requests in from our table. After a few drinks, I always want to dance. George isn’t much for dancing, so I drug my friend’s son out and made him dance with me. I probably embarrassed the kid half to death, but he was a good sport and made my day. George even took me out for a slow dance before we headed home. I’m not a good dancer. In fact, I am sure it’s hard to watch, but it sure is fun to do! I haven’t been dancing in years, and I am paying for it now! Two days later, and my legs still hurt! Lol!

We had Dad and Mom over for supper on the 4th, George and the boys grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and corn on the cob. Dad and Jacob really enjoyed the corn. Mom brought over two big watermelons and the boys polished off one. Then started on the other. Needless to say, there was not much of the corn or the melon left over. After dinner, we headed to a friend’s house to watch fireworks. I’m not sure how but I ended up in a water balloon fight with the kids and spent the evening soaking wet. LOL!

Robert headed back to base today. I was sad to see him go, the pantry not so much. We got a whole two weeks with him, and it flew by like nothing. I’m so thankful for the time we had with him. I hope it’s not long before he is home again. Jacob has another visit planned with his dad this summer, so maybe I will be able to sneak down for an afternoon and see all my army kids! One of the boys was able to get his wife and daughter moved up from Arizona, and I am dying to meet the little one in person. X’s & O’s.
