Burr Oak Celebrates the 4th of July

Sunday evening the Burr Oak Community Club hosted a July 4th Celebration which included a meal with homemade ice cream and an hour long fireworks display for the public.

The Annual Burr Oak 4th of July Celebration drew people of all ages to the Burr Oak Community Center building Sunday night. A supper started off the evening. It was provided and served by the Burr Oak Community Club and other volunteers. The menu consisted of sloppy joes, grilled hot dogs, potato chips and several different favors of homemade ice cream, along with many varieties of cookies. Lemonade and ice tea were also offered. The free will donation supper was served to around 200 people.

After the supper, the people went out into the playground area to visit and wait for the fireworks to begin. Taped patriotic county music, provided by Gabe Scheidt of Esbon, was played before and during the firework displays. The hour long firework displays began just as the sun set with Walt Wilson in charge, with help from his son, Devin Wilson, and two of Walt's grandsons, Chandler and Taran Zoltenko. At the finale of the fireworks, Gabe Scheidt sang the National Anthem.

Donating towards the fireworks were the Burr Oak Community Club, The Burr Oak 150th Celebration Committee and other individuals.
