Donald Gregg

 


Donald Charles Gregg, Jewell, died Thursday, July 8, at his home in Topeka.

Don was born March 6, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Burton and Dorothy Gregg.

Don worked most of this life as an auto mechanic. During his time in Kansas City, he worked for Morasch Automotive. He moved to Jewell in 1973. In Jewell, he worked at the Jewell Implement Company until 1978, before going into business for himself, opening Gregg Automotive. A few years later, he and his wife opened the Parts Pit. They operated both businesses until 2017. 

While in Kansas City, he enjoyed tuning and drag racing his ‘56 Chevy. He met his wife, Deanna, in September 1963. They were wed soon after. This year would have marked 58 years.

Don was a member and past grand master of the Jewell County Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, drag racing and classic cars.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger Morris; his mother and father, Burton and Dorothy Gregg; and his brother and sister-in-law, Burton Jr., and Lorna Gregg.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Gregg; a son, Kevin (Shannon) Gregg; grandchildren, Katie (Jason) Rosebaugh, Jeremy Morris, Dylan, Kaylee and Madison Gregg; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11a.m., at the Jewell City Cemetery, Jewell, Kan., on Friday, July 23, with Pastor Dan Daniels officiating.

Kleppinger Funeral Home, Jewell, is in charge of arrangements.
