Karen Parker

 


Karen Ann Parker, the daughter of Lester and Carolyn (Polcen) Anderson, was born on Oct. 4, 1945, in Racine, Wis. She died July 7, 2021, at her residence in Republic, Kan., at the age of 75 years, 9 months, 3 days.

Karen was a graduate of Lakewood High School in California. She married Bentley Parker on Aug. 11, 1962, at St. Columbian Church in Garden Grove, Calif. This union was blessed with three children. They made their home in Republic, Kan. She was employed as a nurse aide and also did babysitting.

Karen enjoyed listening to music, and collecting pretty items such as bells, dolls, dishes and jewelry. She liked to go shopping and was a good cook. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens.

She was a member of MNO bridge club and loved her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Carolyn. Survivors include her husband, Bentley; sons: Robert (Susan Roush) Parker, and Scott (Beth Stevens) Parker; and one daughter, Alaina (Robert) Brown; nine grandchildren: Christopher (Kimberly) Parker, Kelsey (Tyler) Lauenstein, Lyndsay (Tyler Christensen) Brown, Katelyn (Brock Christensen) Brown, Mariah (Kurt) Fritson, Danielle Roush, Jordan (Alex) Brown, Ashlyn Brown and Jordan Brown; eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Ron Anderson of Anaheim, Calif .; Barbara Dwyer of Ventura, Calif .; and Linda Klos of Bullhead City, Ariz .; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.


A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, at Lake Cemetery, near Republic, with Pastor Natalie Faust officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Christopher Parker, Kelsey Lauenstein, Lyndsay Brown, Katelyn Brown, Mariah Fritson, Danielle Roush, Jordan Brown, Ashlyn Brown and Jordan Brown.

Memorials may be sent to Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation-Cancer wing or Republic United Methodist Church.
