Softball season comes to the end

The action all starts when the pitch if thrown . . . above, Katelyn Mazour gets things going as she pitches in this game

In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Softball season in Nebraska did take place. The pandemic did have an effect on the summer program, but all-in-all, the season was successful. Manager Dick Kohmetscher noted they played only 13 games this year and there was no state tournament action for the local girls. Dick was assisted this year by Ben Burris, Mike Skinner and Dustin Cassell.

Defense is the other half of the game of softball. In this picture, Hannah Skinner fields the ball and looks to see where it the ball should go.

Many of the surrounding towns did not attempt to sponsor teams this year. If you noticed the names under the picture, the Lawrence team had girls from around a large area, not just the Lawrence and Nelson communities.

Other teams playing this summer were: 12 and Under Softball, coached by Dustin Cassell; 10 and Under Softball, coached by Brooke Mazour and Lisa Peterson; T-Ball Baseball two teams coached by Lisa Peterson and Brooke Mazour; Coach Pitch baseball, coached by Dan Laughlin; Pee Wees coached by Joel Lipker and Mike Heikkinen.
