Road repairs discussed at Jewell County commissioners' meeting

 


The Jewell County commissioners met last Monday. Commissioners Brent Beck, Steve Greene and Keith Roe and Carla J Waugh, county clerk, were present.

Randy Hofmeier, CPA with Lindburg, Vogel, Pierce, Faris Chartered, reviewed the 2022 budget draft. The commissioners made some changes with the proposed 2022 Budget Levy at 90.451 which is down from the 2021 Budget Levy of 91.608. It was agreed to have the county budget hearing at 10 a.m. on Aug. 23, in the county commissioners’ meeting room.

Dwight Frost telephoned to report a vehicle had fallen through a box culvert on Birch Road.

Rex Boley, USD 107 superintendent, visited with commissioners. He had not received further communications from Pawnee Mental Health.

Kevin Peroutek, emergency preparedness director, discussed sharing the consultant with the cities for ARP reporting. The commissioners approved to allow the cities to contact Cottonwood Consulting for questions on the ARP funding through the county’s contract.


Joel Elkins, general superintendent, reported on maintenance projects. Steve Greene reported several roads that need maintenance.
