Betty Fogo

 


Betty Joyce Fogo was born on July 29, 1931, in Northbranch, Kan., the daughter of Harold and Nina Silsby Beam. She died Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas at the age of 89.

Betty graduated from Esbon High School in 1949 and in later years completed classes at NCK Technical School and Cloud County Community College to help further her secretarial and office administrative career.

On June 12, 1949, she was united in marriage with James Fogo. Eight children were born to this union, which later dissolved.

In 1970, she moved to Beloit with her family, where she worked as the secretary to the principal at Beloit High School for 17 years. In 1987, she moved to Topeka and worked for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment until she retired in 1998. She then worked for the Highland Park United Methodist Church until fully retiring in June 2010, and was a dedicated member.

In her spare time, Betty was an avid reader. She also enjoyed her flowers, playing card games, and watching Jeopardy, but her family was her main priority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ken; great-granddaughter, Faith; sisters-in-law, Doris and Donna Beam; and brother-in-law, Harold Adamson.

Betty is survived by her children, Jim Fogo of Floyd, Virginia, Brad and wife, Pam, Fogo of Shawnee, Kan., Vicki and husband, Brad Corbett of Osborne, Dan and wife, Susan Fogo of Lakewood, Colo., Judy and husband, Steve Melton of Beloit, Janet and husband, Mark Noah of Beloit, and David Fogo of Beloit; 19 grandchildren, Chad (Bobi), Justin (Mary), Stacie (Jay), Bridgett (Chon), Erin, Kristi (Chris), Clinton, Niki, Ross (Leia), Casey (Katie), Fr. Andrew, Luke, Josephine, Nathan, Veronica, Melody (Jason), Michelle, Crystal (Dustin), and Amanda (Corey); 25 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandria, Chace, Elijah, Finley, Preston, Ellianna, Josiah, Bristol, Maisey, Marley, Mosley, Logan, Olive, Sophia, Delilah, Jerid, Jayden, Jaycie, Winnie, Lyli, Conor, Tyler, Tuker, and Ciera; great-great grandson, Nicklaus; brothers, Donald and John (Thelma) Beam; sister, Beth Adamson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her funeral was at the Roberts Family Funeral Home on June 29, followed by burial in Esbon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Boost Ministries or Summer Kids Cafe. Roberts Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
