Country-style fun

Rideʼm Cowboy! Grady Mertens was pretending to be a bull rider as Landon Woerner pulled him and his sled through a pool of water that collected during Sunday morningʼs thunderstorm.

Out here in the country we may not have an amusement part nearby but that doesn't mean we can't have fun. Country folks have long been known for turning what they have into something fun.

Macie Woerner appears to be gritting her teeth as she tries to stay on the piece of plastic foam the youngsters were trying to ride like a water sled.

Sunday afternoon the Woerner and Mertens youngsters were playing in a small puddle of water in front of the Woerner home near the intersection of Superior's Fifteenth and Hartley Streets. They were using a bicycle to pull another through the puddle while kneeling on a small plastic sled.

Landon Woerner had a better idea. He got his atv and took the youngsters across the road to where even more water had collected following the nearly 3.5 inches of rain that fell earlier in the morning. Soon the youngsters were roaring through the puddle and pretending to be bull riders. Though the youngsters' parents had gotten a little wet and splattered The Express photographer couldn't persuade them to go for a ride while he was present but we don't know what happened after he left. It certainly looked like the youngsters were having fun.

We have a video of them playing in the water posted on our web page at superiorne.com.
