Auditorium group hopeful challenge grant will be met

August 19, 2021

Earlier this summer The Express published a story about a “30 in 30” challenge. Supporters of the Superior Auditorium were asking others to join with them to raise $30,000 in 30 days to receive a grant from an anonymous foundation. This project is nearing its conclusion so if individuals are considering donating, now is the time! Committee members report they have had a strong response to requests for donations and the hope is that the total dollars raised will be revealed at the end of August and it will be enough to qualify for the match. Donations may be given to committee members Beverly Beavers, John Sullivan, Deb Ostdiek, Sonia Schmidt or sent to P.O. Box 96, Superior, Neb.

The auditorium began hosting dance classes on Monday evening. Instructor Erin Nelson reports a large enthusiastic response to her classes. The classes are held four nights each week, Monday through Thursday. Families can now have children enrolled in classes locally rather than travel out of town for classes.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the community will host Nebraska’s Flights of Honor display inside the building. Veterans from across Nebraska were flown to Washington D.C during 2008-2019 and this display commemorates those flights. There is no admission charge. This issue of The Express contains an advertisement listing dates and times the building is open. Saturday, during the community’s Home Grown events, fresh squeezed lemonade will be offered from 3-5 for a free will donation.
