Jewell County commissioners met Aug. 2. Commissioners Brent Beck, Steve Greene and Keith Roe were present and Carla J Waugh, county clerk were present for the meeting.

Brent Beck said he talked to the other party concerning the fence issue. Chairman Roe appointed himself and Commissioner Beck as fence viewers for the fence dispute. They will go view the fence at 10 a.m. on Aug. 20.

Alex Carabajal, county attorney, requested an executive session for 20 minutes to discuss legal matters. Regular session resumed at 9:00 a.m. with no action taken.

The commissioners approved to not hold a regular commission meeting on Nov. 1.

Chris Petet, custodian, discussed the American Boiler quote for boiler maintenance.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, reviewed the job description for the proposed new position of road supervisor. An open house for the Jewell County Highway Department and new shop building from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Sept.16. Maintenance projects were discussed. Two different compliments on work done from the Road & Bridge Department have been received.


Jeremy Luedke, undersheriff, stopped by to introduce himself.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
