Steven Spillman, 72, died at his home in Republic, Kan., on Aug. 11, after an 8-year battle with cancer.

Steve was born Feb. 1, 1949, in Superior, to Earl and Shirley Spill- man. He attended Superior schools until the family moved to Golden, Colo., in 1964. He graduated from Golden High School in 1967. In 1972, Steve married Charlene Horning of Indian Hills, Colo. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage. In 1977, they moved to Republic, where they resided until his death.
