RHHS football readies for season

The Rock Hills High School football team has been practicing as they ready for the start of the 2021 season. The team will travel to Clyde, Friday for a pre-season jamboree game at Clifton-Clyde High School. The regular season kicks off, Friday, Sept. 3, at Linn.

The team features a new head coach. Sawyer Havenstein takes over the helm as the Grizzlies coach. He will be assisted by Wyatt Flynn and Tycen Higer. Havenstein is looking to have Rock Hills improve upon last season’s 3-5 record.

The roster has several experienced players returning. Senior class members are Conner Cosand and Buck Luedka.

The junior class has Wyatt Evert, Ethan Kenworthy, Garrett Barry, Jeremiah Fry and Zach Gurka.

The sophomore class is represented by Aaron Sterling, Coelton Nielson, Kale Whelchel and Mason McMains.

Freshman class members of the team are Derrik Case, Cooper McDill, Nate Meyers, Isiah Ridgeway, Camden Ward, Eli Vance, Ja’Cobey Beck and Aaron Underwood.

Havenstein will also be the head coach of the junir high school football program. Zach Duffy will be his assistant.

The seventh grade team members are Blake Fultz, Maddix Faulkner, Treyton Reynolds, Robert Cruz Navarro. Brycen Robison, Noah Eakins, Ty Vance, Eli Whelchel, Justin Luong, Wyatt Strand, Caden Wurm, Gavin Hall and Max McMains.

The eighth grade members on the roster are Noah Osheim, Ethan Wirth, Carter Nondorf, Whitley Frost, Nelson Underwood, Quentin Rice, Issac Deichen and Draiden Ault.

The team opens its season, Thursday, Sept. 2, at Mankato, when they host Thunder Ridge.
