JoAnn Ruth Fangmeyer, 81, of Deshler, the daughter of John and Alvina (Gebers) Flathman Jr. was born Nov, 30, 1939, in Chester. She died Thursday, Sept. 2, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler.

JoAnn grew up in Chester attending school and graduating from Chester

High School with the Class of 1957.

She married Ervin Fangmeyer July 7, 1957, at St John Lutheran Church in

Chester. This union was blessed with the birth of five children.

JoAnn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, singing in the choir and a member of the women club.

She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crafts, reading and decorating cakes.

JoAnn was a stay at home mom, taking care of the children, attending

their events, cooking, baking and being a good mother and housekeeper. She also helped Ervin in the store where needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers, Raymond

and LeRoy Flathman; and sister, Norma Doering

She is survived by her husband, Ervin of Deshler; sons, Randy Fangmeyer of Fremont, and David Fangmeyer of Hemet, Calif.; daughters, Audrey Hoops of Deshler, Mrs. Dan Foster (Nancy) of Colby, Kan., and Mrs. Brad Eilts (Janet)of Larned, Kan.; brother, Wayne Flathman of Shickley; and sisters, Mrs. Scott Eitzmann (Connie) of Hardy, and Kay Garrels of Wichita; and grandchildren.

Her funeral was Monday, Sept. 6, at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler with Pastor Joe Love, the officiant.
