Lucky . . . Or Not ?

October 7, 2021

Harvest 2021 is here. However, the harvest isn't always corn and beans.

Many, many folks in south central Nebraska still grow gardens in and around their homes. And it is time for garden harvests as well as the crops in the field.

Pat Faimon of Lawrence has a garden most every year and enjoys the produce from it. However, just last weekend, he got a bit of a surprise while digging up sweet potatoes.

The picture above shows Mr. Faimon with the growth from one hill of sweet potatoes. He noted that he had about a dozen hills of potatoes this year and had dug up four or five hills prior to this. They were pretty average. However, last weekend he dug into another hill and came up with quite a harvest.

Pat is shown with about 15 pounds of sweet potatoes from that one plant. Two large potatoes on his left were each about two pounds. The main growth has potato growing in circles intertwining around itself. It totaled over ten pounds.

He is interested in what the rest of the garden will provide him.

Lucky ? ? ?

He's not sure at this point in time. You see, he noted: "I may have too many and will be sick of eating them if they all produce this well."
