Jewell City Council meeting

 

October 14, 2021



The Jewell City Council met in regular session Monday Oct 4, at city hall. Those in attendance were Darrell Bohnert, mayor; council members, Max Burks, Josh Burks, Bob Freeman, Gaye Daniels; and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

Don Jacobs, Jewell County Sheriff, was present. He mentioned hiring two new deputies.

James Reed, code enforceent officer, was present and gave an update on his activities. Reed continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances. Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson also updated the council on the community center-motel reservation schedule. Anderson said she is working on a scrapbook for the city’s Corn Show Booth.

David Knappert was presented with the monthly maintenance report. Knappert said he was working on repairing the streets and getting the shop ready for the Corn Show.

In unfinished business, Mayor Bohnert said the walking trail solar LED lights are installed at Emerson Lake. He mentioned using the CFAP grant money to pay for the rock and gravel that was spread at the lake.

In other business, Anderson presented the fireman’s CMB application for the corn show which was approved. The firetruck loan payment was approved. The domestic animal permit applications that were up for renewal were approved. The Jewell City Landbank Ordinance was passed.
