SHS volleyball back to winning ways

The Superior Wildcats volleyball team is back on track after they downed the Minden Whippets in a three-set sweep, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-23, at Minden last Tuesday. They recorded another three-set sweep, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-23, when they hosted the Heartland Huskies at Superior, Thursday.

The Wildcats visted Sandy Creek, Tuesday, with match results unavailable at press time.

Madison Heusinkvelt (22) returns the ball for Superior during their match with the Minden Whippets at Superior, last Tuesday.

Shayla Meyer put up 21 kills against Minden. Madison Heusinkvelt pounded down eight kills. Teegan Duncan nailed seven kills. Cailyn Barry jammed down five kills. Meyer lasered through three aces. Duncan scored with two aces. Heusinkvelt added an ace. Meyer went low for 24 digs. Atlee Kobza dug the ball out on 10 occasions. Ella Gardner lobbed up nine digs. Duncan came through with seven digs. Heusinkvelt added two digs.

Duncan was the top Wildcat killer, with nine, against Heartland. Meyer contributed six kills. Heusinkvelt accounted for five kills. Barry, Gardner, Brooklyn Grabast and Mikynzie Grabast added a kill each. Heusinkvelt spliced six aces together. Gardner, Meyer and Sadie Rempel each posted and ace. Barry registered two blocked shots. Duncan flipped up six digs.Heusinkvelt and Kobza took care of three digs apiece. Barry, Gardner and Rempel ladled up two digs each. Sadie Cornell, Grabast and Meyer added a dug each.

Superior travels to Hebron today (Thursday) for a match with Thayer Central. This is their final regular season match. The Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament commences Monday with matches on Tuesday and play concludes with the final match on Thursday at Milford.
