AnnaBelle Grubbs was born on July 9, 1929, to Vera (Mendenhall) and Jacob McDonnel in Hemet, Calif., and died Oct. 30, 2021. At the age of 2, she moved with her family to Burr Oak, where she graduated from high school in 1946 and then graduated from Stewards Beauty Academy in Salina in 1947. She then worked at a beauty shop in Beloit for four years.

She married Homer L. Grubbs in 1952. They made their home on the farm west of Burr Oak. AnnaBelle owned and operated Grubb's Beauty Shop in Burr Oak for 50 years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church where...
