COVID-19 on upswing

COVID-19 on the upswing in Jewell Co.

The Jewell County Health Department held a public vaccination event Wednesday in Mankato. During that event held at the Mankato Community Center, department workers were present to administer the COVID-19 booster shots to area residents who had previously been fully-vacinated.

Charts distributed by the state health department show the rapid spread of the illness in recent weeks. A chart published on Oct. 27, indicated there were 413 cases reported in Jewell County, 887 in Republic County, 779 in Mitchell County, 415 in Osborne County and 398 in Smith County.

On Nov. 5 those numbers had increased to 458 in Jewell County, 409 in Smith County, 896 in Republic County, 442 in Osborne County, and 815 in Mitchell County.

On Nov. 8, the numbers had increased to 471 in Jewell, 413 in Smith, 901 in Republic, 447 in Osborne and 820 in Mitchell County.

For Cloud County the numbers on the three respective dates were 1,370, 1,438 and 1,453.

In summary the number of new cases confirmed from Oct. 27 to Nov. 8, were 58 in Jewell, 15 in Smith, 14 in Republic, 32 in Osborne, 41 in Mitchell, and 83 in Cloud.
