The Nuckolls County Human Interagency Services (HIS) Team is again

sponsoring a "Giving Tree" for residents of Nuckolls County this Holiday

Season. Agency members of the Human Interagency Services team include

Hope Pregnancy Center, Good Beginnings, Brodstone Memorial Hospital,

Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska, and Positive Solutions.

The Giving Tree project is a coordinated effort with many area businesses, organizations, groups and individuals. Giving Tree forms are passed out by HIS members and distributed to the preschools schools in the county. The needs from the forms are also used to distribute Toys for Tots, Coats for Kids and Holiday Food Boxes. Each participating household receives a Food Box that contains all the ingredients a family needs for a delicious Christmas dinner.

Once the forms are returned, gift tags are made and are available for the public to fill and return at local businesses including Superior Pharmacy, Dollar General and Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, the Nelson Post Office and Farmers and Merchants Bank in Lawrence.

Giving Tree gifts need to be returned to those locations by Dec. 11.

The HIS Team appreciates all the support received from county residents,

businesses, and supporting agencies. The "Giving Tree" recipients of past years express much gratitude, appreciation, and thanks for helping to make their Christmas season a joyous time with gifts and food they would not have been able to provide for their families.

The gift to give is the greatest gift of all. This year the Giving Tree expects to provide 100 families with gifts and

food. This would not be possible without the great support of all the generous people in Nuckolls County. If you are feeling blessed this year and are looking for a way to give back to the community, please consider making a donation or filling a tag from the "Giving Tree."

Monetary donations can be mailed to Giving Tree, PO Box 271, Superior,

Neb., or given to any HIS member. All money collected will be used to fill remaining tags and family needs. Contact Peggy Meyer at Superior for more information.

With the continued health and safety concerns surrounding the Coronavirus and changing health directives, there will be protocols in place to help protect both the volunteers and recipients coming to pick up Food Boxes and Gifts. The protocol will include requiring masks to be worn, only one family member allowed inside and limiting the number of people inside at one time. Recipients are asked to find someone else to come pick up their food box and gifts if feeling ill. More protocols will be put in place as the date approaches. Recipients are asked to please help the volunteers by abiding by all protocols and signs while being patient and kind toward the volunteers and each other. This is the season of Giving. Please give the best of you.
