Marvin Brockman

Marvin Henry Brockman was born to Norbert and Evelyn (Menke) Brockman on Aug. 29, 1936. He died Nov. 10, 2021 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 12 days.

Marvin was born on the family farm one mile north of Mount Clare; attended St. Stephens’ grade school and graduated from Nelson Public High School in 1954.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1954 and served four years in the Pacific on aircraft carriers. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the telephone company in Orange County California and later for Global Marine Drilling. He traveled to six of the seven continents while working on oil rigs for Global.

Marvin married Patricia Truex on May 16, 1963. Together they were parents to six sons: Myron, Hugh, Mark, David, Daniel and Jason. Patricia died on Nov. 4, 2011.

After retiring from Global Marine, Marvin and Patricia traveled extensively in their motor home. After her death, he mainly stayed in his motor home which was parked at the home of his son David and spouse Tereasa in Gridley, Calif.

His favorite pastime was fishing. He and Patricia enjoyed many hours at this activity and traveled to many of the rivers in the Northwest enjoying their passion. He also was an avid reader.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother as well as his beloved Patricia.

He is survived by his six sons; two brothers, Virgil (Mary Lou) of Deweese and Patrick (Rosie) of Juniata; two sisters: Carolyn (Ray) Mazour of Blue Hill and Judy (Ken) Kalvoda of Clay Center; grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.

Burial will be in the Sutter, California Cemetery.
