She said, "Well it was probably my fourth time sitting this year and I heard him come in from behind my blind. Then after waiting patiently, for what seemed like forever, he finally made it down into a clearing when I got the perfect shot. He was about 25 yards when I shot. I double lunged him and he ran a short 10 yards before going down. I felt a lot of emotions all at once. It was my first deer and first year to hunt on my own. I was really late to the game to do hunters safety and get my hunting permit."

She shot her buck near Palmer Kansas. Gabriel graduated from Lawrence Nelson High School in 2016. She attended Chadron State College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in range and wildlife management. She plans to get her teaching certificate and now lives in Linn, Kan.
