Robert Nannen, head coach of the Superior High School girls basketball team, is looking forward to his second season with the team. The team finished the 2020-2021 season with a 21-3 record. They advanced to the state Class C-2 tournament where they were eliminated in the first round by eventual champion Hastings St. Cecilia.

The team lost one senior to graduation. Shayla Meyer will anchor the offense once again. Ella Gardner returns with a wealth of experience. Laci Kirchhoff returns her three-point perimeter expertise to bolster the offense.

The team hosts a number of experienced players who are able to fill a variety of offensive and defensive roles as they come off the bench.

Nannen said the freshmen additions to the roster are improving with each practice.

He said, “We are looking forward to an exciting season of basketball. We want to focus on being the hardest working team in the state playing for each other, being resilient through adversity and enjoying the moments the season brings us. If we can do

Members of the team for the 2021-2022 season are seniors Emma Henderson and Meyer. Junior class members are E. Gardner, Kirchhoff and Neah McMeen. Teegan Duncan, Lilly Edwards and Madison Heusinkvelt are the sophomores on the team. Rayne Biltoft, Faith Butler, Sadie Cornell and Mia Gardner are the freshman.
