L-N girls go 1-1

It was a win for the Lawrence-Nelson High School girls basketball team as they downed Red Cloud 47-34 at Nelson Friday. The Raiders did not fare as well Saturday when the Thayer Central Titans handed themn a 51-39 loss at nelson.

Red Cloud never posed a serious threat to the Raiders as they cruised to a 22-12 halftime lead. Red Cloud scrapped back over the last two quarters byt was unable to surmount their earlier deficit.

Thayer Central and Lawrence-Nelson were tied at 21 after two quarters. Unfortunately, the Raiders were unable to stay with the Titans and came out of the came with a 51-39 loss and a 1-1 record for the young season.

Katelyn Mazour topped the Raiders scoring effort against Red Cloud with nine points. Emma Epley was good for eight points. Elsa Jorgensen added seven points. Aleah Heikkinen scored six points. Sydney Biltoft canned five points for the game. Kara Menke scored two points. Epley snagged six rebounds. Heikkinen pulled way five rebounds. Mazour harvested four rebounds. Biltoft and Menke nabbed two rebounds apiece. Heikkinen and Mazour each dropped through 10 points against Thayer Central. Biltoft netted four points. Himmelberg grabbed three points. Heikkinen and Menke landed eight rebounds each. Biltoft, Epley and Jorgensen collected three rebound each. Mazour was good for two rebounds. Emily Troudt grabbed a rebound.


The Raiders travel to Franklin for a game with the Flyers Friday. Bruning-Davenport-Shickley visits nelson Saturday for a game.
