It was another busy weekend for the Superior High school wrestling team. They competed at the Wood River Invitational Friday. The team finished tied for sixth place with 85 points. There were 17 schools competing at the match Other teams were Aquinas, O’Neill, St. Paul, Amherst, Ord, Gibbon, Gothenburg, Hershey, Wood River, Kearney Catholic, Grand Island Central Catholic, Doniphan-Trumbull, Kenesaw, Shelton, Hastings St. Cecilia and Sutton.

Saturday the team traveled to Daykin for the Bob Oliver Pin Invitational. Superior took second place, with 180.5 points, in the eight team field comprised of Thayer Central, Wilber-Clatonia junior varsity, Meridian, Palmyra, Friend, Tri County junior varsity and Fairbury junior varsity.

Results from the Wood River Invite:

Holden MacDonald earned 10 team points in the 106 pound weight bracket,

Brett Miller acquired eight team points in the 113 pound weight bracket. Cole Rughe competed at 113 pounds.

Hayden Neeman scored 26 team points with his first place finish at 126 pounds.

Gavin Ekstein competed at 138 pounds. Aaron Allgood earned seven team points in the 145 pound weight bracket.

Jordan Brown was awarded eight team points for his efforts at 182 pounds.

Henry Griljava picked up four team points for Superior in the 220 pound weight bracket.

Payton Christiancy earned 22 team points for his second place finish in the 285 pound weight class.

Anders Webber stood on the podium with his third place finish in the 285 pound weight division.

Results from the Bob Oliver Pin Tournament:

MacDonald took first place and earned seven team points in the 106 pound weight bracket.

Miller grabbed 15 team points with his second place finish in the 113 pound weight class.

Cole Rughe took fourth place in the 113 pound class.

Dominique Baumbach took 2.5 team points for his fourth place finish in the 120 pound weight bracket.

Neeman earned 30 team points with his first place finish in the 132 pound weight bracket.

Allgood held first place and 30 points in the 145 pound weight bracket.

Brown added a first place finish and 30 team points in the 183 pound weight division.

Christian Osweiler was in third place in the 220 pound weight class.

Griljava earned 30 team points and a first place finish in the 220 pound weight bracket.

Webber took second place honors at 285 pounds.

Christaincy added 36 team points with his first place finish in the 285 pound weight bracket.

The Wildcats compete at the Oakland-Craig Invitational, at Oakland, Friday. The Wildcats travel to Hooper, Saturday, for the Logan View Invitational.
