L-N Raiders fall to Friend 40-51

Secure . . . Conner Janda has control of the basketball and no one is going to take it. Lawrence-Nelson teammates Nolan Ostdiek heads down court and Krayton Kucera waits to assist the trip down the court if needed against Friend, at Friend Friday.

Raider fans traveled to Friend last Friday evening to watch the Raiders play the Friend Bulldogs play. L-N put together a great first quarter of play, but eventually gave up the ball game with the final score being 40-51.

"Boxing Out" . . . In basketball, it is a term that means getting between the basket and any opposing player to have a better chance to rebound the ball. In this picture, Lawrence-Nelson player Keaton Mazour does just that as the Friend player attempts to find a way to secure a rebound.

Logan Menke opened the Raider's scoring one minute into the game with a 3-pt. shot. He was followed by scores from Bayln Bargen, Krayton Kucera and Conner Janda as L-N hit 50 percent of their field goals during the first eight minutes of play.

L-N 15 8 10 7 - 40

Friend 13 15 14 9 - 51

Friend could be described as a "tall" team and they had control of the basket controlling many rebounds and 'put-backs'. The Raiders had four minute scoring droughts in the second and third quarters that allowed Friend to slowly build their winning margin.

We have not been able to obtain statistics for the game.

The boys played Shelton on Tuesday night and then prepare for a trip west to play in a holiday tournament in Hershey during the holiday break on Dec. 28 and 29.
