Ribbon cutting held for Mankato City Library's Book Walk
December 23, 2021
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Mankato City Library's Book Walk took place Friday. This project, made possible by the State Library of Kansas and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, consists of 20 frames purchased from Barking Dog Exhibits of Strum, Wisc.
The story starts in the first frame to the north on the west side of the courthouse, it ends in the last frame east on the south side. The plan is to change the story out monthly. The books chosen are placed in plastic sheets that cover and protect the pages.
"I would like to recognize and thank the people who helped install this project for Mankato City Library," said Crystal Fullerton, library director.
Mankato city employees dug the holes, placed the posts and attached the frames. Rock Hills students helped set up the first Book Walk.
"Also, I thank the State Library of Kansas and the Institute of Museum and Library services for making all of this possible by providing us the funding necessary to purchase these frames," Fullerton said.
