Muriel Follmer

Muriel Evelyn Follmer, the daughter of Ed and Marie (Porter) Troudt, was born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Nelson, Neb. She died Dec. 30, at Silver Ridge Memory Care at Gretna, Neb., at the age of 94 years, 11 months, 18 days.

Muriel attended the Nelson Public Schools and graduated in 1944. On June 20, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald Follmer. This union was blessed with nine children. Muriel was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Highland Helping Hands Extension Club, Lost Needles Quilting Group and The Rubies. For many years she worked at the Price Funeral Home. In her younger years, she ran the Orbit Inn in Nelson. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful baker and cook who never sent anyone away hungry. She enjoyed quilting, was always dressed so nice, had a wonderful smile and laugh. She never met a stranger.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; two sons, Craig and Gary; a granddaughter, Corina Krieser; and two sisters, Doris Oltman and Uyvonne Knehans.

Muriel is survived by her daughter- in-law, Shirley Follmer (wife of Gary) of Lincoln, Neb., Dennis and wife Kathy of Davenport; Diane Krieser and husband Clar, of Seward, Neb .; Mike and wife Linda of Grand Island; Brenda Awsiukiewicz and husband Larry of Omaha; Gayle Follmer, Mark and wife Lyn all of Lincoln, Neb., and Shelley Kienow and husband Scott of Gretna; 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Marlys Jensen and Donna Jensen and husband Darrell of Superior, Neb., along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 7, from the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Neb., with Rev. Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Lector will be Mark Follmer and Diane Krieser. Acolyte will be John Price. Servers will be Jace and Joel Hoelting.

Music will be "Hail Mary Gentle Woman" and "Song of Farewell" sung by the Resurrection Men's Group from Grand Island. Congregational hymns will be "Amazing Grace," "Fill My Cup Lord," "Shepherd Me O God" and "Angels We Have Heard On High" with Bonnie Kool as accompanist.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., today (Thursday) Jan. 6, at the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home in Nelson. A rosary was held at 7 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson. A recording of "Supermarket Flowers" was played.

Pallbearers will be Rod Follmer, Jason Follmer, Nathan Krieser, Andrew Follmer, Aaron Follmer, Jacob Awsiukiewicz, Matthew Kienow and Thomas Kienow.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tracey Soucek, Amy Taylor, Lacey Follmer, April Follmer, Autumn Follmer, Alison Follmer, Kaitlyn Follmer, Karessa Follmer, Kelsey Follmer and Grace Kienow.

Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson.

Memorials are suggested to go in care of the family.
