William Hofstetter

William (Bill) J. Hofstetter, 68, Lawrence, Neb. died Thursday, Jan. 13, in Hastings, surrounded by his loving wife and children. A rosary was held at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17,and Mass was at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, with Father Corey Harrison officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence. Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Visitation Chapel, Lawrence.

A memorial has been established to be designated at a later date. Private condolences may be sent to the family at http://www.mertenbutlermortuary.com. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements.

Bill was born on Feb. 10, 1953, to James (Jim) and LaVeta (Drudik) Hofstetter in Hastings. He attended school in Lawrence. He married Lynette Rempe on Feb. 16, 1974, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, and raised six children. He spent much of his life involved in farming, before starting "H & H Hay," which he owned and operated with his son for 28 years. In his free time, Bill enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lynette, Lawrence; children and spouses, Tami (Lynn) Jurgens, DeWitt, Neb., Darci (Adam) Benson, Lincoln, Neb., Luke (Ashley) Hofstetter, Nelson, Nicole (Jacob) Rasmussen, Waverly, Kan., Heather (Jacob) Stoll, Seward, Neb., Kayla (Jordan) Hoge, Omaha; 20 grandchildren, one great- grandchild; brothers and sisters and spouses, Robert (Karen) Hofstetter, Lawrence, Allen Hofstetter, Geneva, Dennis (Sue) Hofstetter, Edgar, Richard (Tana) Hofstetter, Plymouth, Mike (Lorrie) Hofstetter, Daykin, Janet (Ken) Rempe, Superior, Eileen (Gene) Mazour, Lawrence, Carol (Gary) Lemke, Lawrence, Linda (Tim) Hagemeier, Clay Center, Neb., Cheryl (Gene) Herrick, Guide Rock, Neb .; brother and sisters-in-law and spouses, Ken (Janet) Rempe, Superior, Marilyn (Garry) Just, Lincoln, Neb., Arlene (Jerry) Bower, Waverly, and Kathy (Greg) Sinner, Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and LaVeta Hofstetter; parents-in-law, Alphonse and LaVeta Rempe; one infant brother, and one infant sister.
