Members of the Superior Board of Education, accepted the resignations of Bailey Elwanger, Katrina Hansen and Marissa Asche effective at the end of this school year.

In addition, the board accepted the voluntary early retirement incentive program applications and agreements with Kelly Mumm, Diane Kile and Anna-Marie Ohmstede.

The board also approved offering certified contracts to Kateline Bergmeier and Shaelynn Rothchild. Supt. Kobza said, “Kateline is from Crete and plans to get married and move to this area. She has been involved with both our reading and math curriculum.”

“Rothchild student taught in the Superior district and was highly recommended by our staff,” Kobza said.

Projections are that both will teach second grade next year.

Supt. Kobza said, “The teacher shortage is real. The Omaha Public School districts project one in three teachers will leave the profession because of COVID related issues. Nebraska superintendents are actively promoting teaching as a desirable, rewarding career.”

Bids for the resurfacing of the junior-senior high school roof came in at $1,257,600. However, currently major issues related to the supply and availability of insulation used in the project could affect its final cost as much as $500,000.

A new U.S. production plant is gearing up to produce the insulation needed and it is hoped by summer supplies will be adequate. Supt. Kobza expects the roofing project to be completed before school opens next fall. The contact for the project has been awarded to Mayhouse Roofing of Omaha.
