Shirley M. Gunn, 85, daughter of Herbert Smith and Hazel (Hammond) Smith, was born May 21, 1936, at Belleville. She died Feb. 6, at Republic County Hospital, Belleville.

Shirley graduated from Belleville High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Gunn on Aug. 21, 1954. To this union two children were born, Belinda and James.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Republic, and MNO Bridge Club. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed as city clerk of Republic for more than 30 years. She was a talented seamstress and traveled the state...
