Red Neck Miniature Golf Fundraiser held in and around Deweese

The 10th Red Neck Miniature Golf Tournament was held on Sunday, in and around Deweese. Forty-eight teams participated on a beautiful Sunday in February; with numerous others stopping by to bring donations and bid on silent auction items. The day was filled with laughter, conversations amongst neighbors, friends and new acquaintances who came from as far as Omaha; all while funds were being raised for St. Jude Research Hospital; and, for cancer patients of: Brodstone Hospital, Superior, Morrison and St. Francis Cancer Centers, Hastings.

The flag prizes and flight winners for the day were determined by a lottery system. If your number was drawn, you were one of the lucky ones.

Championship flight: First – Dirk Johnson and Brady Hinrichs 174; second –Jan Armes and Quincy Hinemann 227; third – Lavern and Carol Brittain 268; fourth – Dale and Tami Kohmetscher 173.

First flight: first – Kyle and Diane Krotzinger 218; second – Adam and Kari Engel 305; third – Mark and Kylie Haba – 249; fourth – Jenny Gilbert and Alaina Brown 198.

Amanda Johnson and Chris Everson, Red Neck Miniature golfers, were required to wear a cowboy hat while attempting to shoot targets attached to a five-foot plastic Italian Chef. The used Nerf guns while riding a stick horse and holding a beverage. This was one of three holes located at the Down South Bar in Deweese.

Second flight: first – Bob Boyer and Kevin Armes 202; second – Don Kimminau and Paul Dale 198; third – Sam Plock and Jordan Juranek 189; fourth – Tom and Taylor Hinemann 273.

Third flight: first – Justin Jarchow and Casey Kluver 194; second – Lyle Skalka and Perry Ridgway 172; third – Justin Gay and Matt Streit 174; fourth – Monty and Kathy Koehler 176.

Poker winners were also determined by the lottery deciding the best 2 Pair; and, the players had to randomly discard a card: Paul Dale; Jen Simpkins; Donna Jurgena and Matt Streit were the winners.

The Split the Pot was won by Bob Boyer and Kristy Wolfe.

Thanks to all the sponsors, golf course hole designers-hosts, kitchen-chief helpers and all of the generous participants and guests who donated their winnings back to the cause; as well as buying silent and live auction items to make this a fun and successful fundraiser, right before the cold snap of this week. Mark your calendars for next year's Tournament: Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023.
