The Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team saw their post-season hopes of advancing to the state tournament dashed when their season long nemesis, Silver Lake, handed them a 46-41 defeat, at Roseland last Tuesday. The Raiders came a long way from their 56-16 drubbing from Silver lake on Jan. 28. They fell again to Silver Lake, 42-21, at the Twin Valley Conference Tournament, Jan. 31. This time around they closed the gap to five points.

The Raiders held a 9-8 lead after the first quarter and led 18-17 at the halfway mark of the game. Silver Lake parlayed a solid 20 point third quarter into a four point lead which Lawrence-Nelson was unable to overcome the difference in the fourth quarter. Silver Lake advanced to play another game and the Raiders saw their season come to an end.

Emma Epley and Aleah Heikkinen paced the Raiders with 12 points apiece. Katelyn Mazour dropped through seven points. Elsa Jorgensen and Kara Menke contributed four points each. Claire Himmelberg scored two points. Heikkinen and Menke hit the boards for seven rebounds. Mazour grabbed four rebounds. Epley and Himmelberg claimed three rebounds apiece.
