Special meeting of Mankato City Council to fill vacancy

 


A special meeting of the Mankato City Council was held Feb. 17, pursuant to a call for a special meeting. Present were Mayor Schoonover, Councilmen Becker, Tyler, Ost and Councilman George Hennion appeared via Zoom. Also present for the meeting was Sharon McCormick, city clerk, and Darrell Miller, city attorney.

The purpose of the meeting was for consideration of an appointment to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Chris Klos, who resigned in January, 2022.

After discussion, the mayor, pursuant to the power vested in him by K.S.A. 15-201, appointed Lyle Dauner to fill the vacancy in office created by the resignation of Chris Klos. The council unanimously confirmed the mayor’s appointment.

Discussion was had concerning the city’s insurance coverage. After a short discussion, the council tabled the matter for discussion at the next regular meeting.

There being no further business on the call for the special meeting, the meeting was adjourned.
