Circus acts coming for 30th annual Vestey festival

March 24, 2022

Plans for the 30th Lady Vestey Victorian Festival are coming together according to Cameron Vyzourek, manager of the Superior Chamber of Commerce. Had it not been for COVID canceling the festival two years ago, this would have been the 31st annual festival.

This year’s theme of Superior Strong was inspired by the circus visits which were a popular part of Superior’s early history.

Most of the popular events from previous years will return and like most events will not have a participation fee.

Festival activities will feature a visit by the PokaDot circus performers. A circus ring will be set up in the center of main street for the performers which will present a variety of acts. As in past years, a clown troupe will return along with face painters. Rocket Events will bring an assortment of rides. Jam’n Randy from Hays, Kansas, will provide live music for the youngsters.

Howard Reed will present a musical program Sunday afternoon in the bandshell.

The Market will return to the Superior Auditorium on Saturday. Tentative plans call for a dance that evening in the auditorium.

The Saturday morning parade will include a children’s division in which youngsters may enter decorated bicycles, wagons and other items.

There will be a free circus theme movie Friday night at the Crest and Saturday the Lady Vestey story will be shown at the Crest.

Vyzourek said it is only possible to present the 30th festival because of the vision of the founders and the continuing number of volunteers and community support.

More details will be published as the festival time draws near.
