Dr. Carroll T. Moore, age 81, of Amarillo, Texas, died March 29, 2022, in Amarillo.

Carroll Truett Moore was born Jan. 27, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, to Truett and Pearl (Fawcett) Moore. He grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959. As a child, he was active in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Texas and graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1967. He was a member of the U.S. Army Medical Department.

He married Danna Martin on Aug. 8, 1970, in Tulsa, Okla. Carroll completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and served as the chief of orthopedics at the General Leonard Wood Army Hospital in Missouri. After his military service, Carroll practiced orthopedic surgery in Big Spring, Texas, for 10 years.

While living in Big Spring, he was president of the Permian Basin Medical Society and on the board of the Malone Hogan Hospital. He moved to Amarillo in 1985 where he practiced until his retirement in 2001.

An avid outdoorsman from childhood, Carroll regularly enjoyed hunting and skiing with his family and friends. He owned two mules and was an expert bow hunter. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and was a beekeeper for many years. He also enjoyed reading, museums and documentaries and had a lifelong love of learning. He traveled to many places in his

retirement years including several trips to Africa with family members and friends. Carroll was a longtime member of the Polk Street United Methodist Church and had many cherished friends throughout the church, the Amarillo community, and around the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Barbara (Moore) McGee.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Danna; his daughter, Jenny (Shannon) McCord, of Superior, Neb .; his son, Craig (Catalina) Moore, of Waterloo, Ontario; and his grandsons, Truett McCord, Callum McCord, and Oliver Moore. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Moore; brother-in-law, Bob McGee; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a myriad of friends.

His funeral was at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, in the Polk Street United Methodist Church, Amarillo, Texas.
