Lawrence-Nelson Track team members receive instructions on how to come off the starting blocks from Preston Hild, coach. A good start can make all the difference in the finish line results.

The Lawrence-Nelson boys and girls high school track and field teams didn't have much time to rest between meets this past week. The Raiders competed at the Deshler Twilight Meet last Tuesday. The teams returned to Deshler again for the Del Wicks Invitational meet Thursday.

The girls team finished in third place, with 109 points, in the three team field the Twilight Meet. The boys took first place, with 160 points. Other teams competing were Deshler and Meridian.

The girls finished in second place, with 100 points, at the Del Wicks Invite. The boys team was in third place, with 70 points, in the eight team field. Other teams at the meet were Thayer Central, Meridian, Deshler, Dorchester, Friend and Superior. Friend did not field a girls team.

The Raiders competed at the Superior Invitational, Tuesday, with meet results unavailable at press time.

Devyn Zikmund grabbed second place in the boys 100 meter dash at the Twilight Meet with his time of 12.51 seconds. Erik Wheeland was in third place with his time of 12.93 seconds.


Wheeland took fifth place in the 200 meter dash with the time of 26.98 seconds.

Tyson Kotinek held second place in the 400 meter dash with his time of 1:00.04. Nolan Ostdiek landed fifth place with his time of 1:03.49.

Ostdiek picked up first place points in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:21.59.

Logan Menke crossed the finish line in first place in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:13.78. Rocky Miller was in seventh place with his time of 6:57.68.

Menke nailed down another first place finish as he took top honors in the 3200 meter run. Ostdiek was right behind in second place with his time of 12:37.86.


Carter Griffis was in second place in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 20.59 seconds.

Griffis finished in fourth place in the 300 meter hurdles with his time of 49.2 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Wheeland, Menke, Kotinek and Zikmund landed in second place with their time of 49.55 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Griffis, Sawyer Cox, Miller and Keaton Mazour held onto third place with their time of 4:53.3.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Menke, Zikmund, Kotinek and Ostdiek earned first place points with their time of 9:36.12.

Cox was in second place in the shot put with his toss of 35'10.5". Mazour took third place with his toss of 35'2". Login Hoecker had a toss of 25'10/5".


Wheeland held the top spot in the discus with his throw of 111'11". Cox was in second place with his throw of 105'6". Mazour lined up in fourth place with his throw of 93'9". Hoecker had a best throw of 68'5" for seventh place.

Zikmund lashed down second place in the long jump with his 17' leap.

Kotinek reeled in first place in the triple jump when he covered 35'4". Griffis was in third place with a distance of 33'5".

Hanna Skinner took fifth place in the girls 100 meter dash with her time of 16.33 seconds. Brook Combs had a time of 17.28 seconds.

Kara Menke posted a second place finish in the 200 meter dash with her time of 29.5 seconds. Skinner listed a time of 34.1 seconds for the event. Combs had a time of 35.64 seconds.


Kansas Public Notices

Menke hauled in second place in the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:05.39. Claire Himmelberg claimed fifth place with the time of 1:11.28 seconds.

Emily Troudt was in second place in the 1600 meter run with her time of 7:09.33.

Addison McCloskey collected second place in the 3200 meter run with here time of 15:12.12. Jessica Sole held third place with her time of 17:08.

Sydney Biltoft gathered up first place in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 18.39 seconds. She added a first place finish in the 300 meter hurdles with her time of 51.56 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Aleah Heikkinen, sole, McCloskey and Skinner grabbed third place with their time of 5:12. 06.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Himmelberg, Troudt, Sole and Danyelle Church were in first place with their time of 10:21.06.


Kylie Beard was atop the shot put results with her toss of 32'. Troudt had a toss of 24'1.25" for seventh place. Heikkinen had a best toss of 21'11.5". Church had a toss of 21'1.75".

Beard landed first place in the discus with her throw of 91'10". Heikkinen had a throw of 86'7".

Biltoft was in fifth place in the high jump at 4'4".

Skinner landed fifth place in the long jump with her leap of 13'. Combs took eighth place with her jump of 11'3".

Wheeland was in fifth place in the boys 100 meter dash with his time of 13.25 seconds at the Del Wicks Invite. Miller ran a preliminary heat of 14.53. Roy Davidson had a preliminary heat time of 16.25 seconds.

Cox had a time of 31.26 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Davidson clocked in at 34.75 seconds.


L. Menke took first place points with his time of 2:13.49 in the 800 meter run. Ostduek followed in third place with a time of 2:16.68.

Griffis hooked up with a fourth place finish in the 3200 meter run with his time of 13.33.06.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Wheeland, Griffis, Kotinek and Zikmund were in fifth place with their time of 50.54 seconds.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Kotinek, Ostdiek, Wheeland and Zikmund nailed down third place with their time of 4:01.43.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Ostdiek, Zikmund, Kotinek and Menke scored a first place finish with their time of 9"12.53.

Mazour was in fourth place in the shot put with his toss of 37'1. Cox had a best toss of 32'1.5". Hoecker had a toss of 25'8.5".

Wheeland recorded a third place finish in the discus with a throw of 112'9". Cox was in seventh place with his throw of 104'7". Mazour was in eighth place with a throw of 90'1".

Zikmund listed a leap of 16'6.5" for the long jump.

Kotinek landed in first place in the triple jump with his distance of 36'5.5". Griffis picked up fifth place when he covered 34'4.75".

Katelyn Mazour was in sixth place of the 100 meter dash with her time of 14.5 seconds. Elsa Jorgensen followed in seventh place with her time of 14.72 seconds.

Katelyn Mazour was in third place in the 200 meter dash with her time of 14.71 seconds. Combs turned in a time of 16.65 seconds.

Skinner turned in a time of 1:14.9 in the 400 meter dash. McCloskey was in with a time of 1:19.93.

Sole accounted for a third place finish in the 3200 meter run with her time of 14:40.45. troudt took fifth place with her time of 15:08.10.

Emma Epley crossed the finish line in first place in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 17.32 seconds. Biltoft added a third place finish for the Raiders with her time of 18.11 seconds.

Biltoft held second place in the 300 meter hurdles with her time of 52.8 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Jorgensen, Epley, Menke and Katelyn Mazour collected third place with their time of 55.1 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Biltoft, Heikkinen, Jorgensen and K. Menke posted a fifth place finish with their time of 4:5.67.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Troudt, McCloskey, Skinner and Sole finished in fourth place with their time of 12:30.55.

` Beard nabbed second place in the shot put with her toss of 33'4.5". Troudt posted a toss of 24'.5".

Heikkinen was good for a third place finish in the discus with her throw of 87'6". Beard followed in fourth place with her throw of 84'. Katelyn Mazour had a throw of 64'11".

Biltoft took up second place in the high jump with her jump of 4'4".

Epley landed second place in the long jump with her leap of 15'6.5". Jorgensen showed up in third place with her leap of 14.6.5". Skinner listed a jump of 11'9".

Epley put up a first place effort in the triple jump with her distance of 32'7.25".

Eric Wheeland has finished in first place in the discus for Lawrence-Nelson this season.

The Raiders will be inactive until the Twin Valley Conference meet at Deshler, Saturday, April 30.
