SHS track: two meets in one day

It was a busy Thursday for the Superior High School boys and girls track and field teams. The Wildcats competed at two different meets. One squad traveled to Syracuse for the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic at Syracuse High School. There were 11 teams at the meet, nine Class B schools, Norris, Nebraska City, Crete, Beatrice, Syracuse, Lincoln Christian, Auburn, Fairbury and Falls City. Superior and Louisville were the two Class C schools. The other squad competed at the Del Wicks Invitational at Deshler. Other teams at Deshler were Thayer Central, Meridian, Lawrence-Nelson, Friend and Doechester. Friend did not field a girls team at Deshler

Superior hosted the Superior Invitational at the Wildcat Community Track Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.

The Superior boys finished in third place with 44 points at Syracuse. The girls team was in fourth place with 64 points.


The Superior boys were in seventh place, with 16 points, in the seven team field at Deshler. The girls were in sixth place, with 18 points, in the six team field.

Ella Gardner took second place in the girls 100 meter dash at Syracuse with her time of 13.09 seconds.

E. Gardner took first place honors in the 200 meter dash with her time of 26.52 seconds.

Halle Bargen finished the 400 meter dash with the time of 1:10. Laci Kirchhoff had a time of 1:12.28.

Kirchhoff posted a time of 2:53.33 for the 800 meter run.

Madison Heusinkvelt posted a time of 53.787 seconds for the 300 meter hurdles.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Sadie Rempel, Bargen, Heusinkvelt and Sadie Cornell picked up third place points with their time of 53.96 seconds.


Shayla Meyer finished fourth in the shot put with her toss of 37'.75". Heusinkvelt had a best toss of 32;7.5".

Meyer nailed down first place in the discus with her throw of 142'4". Atlee Kobza held fourth place with her throw of 102'. Heusinkvelt had a best throw of 89'6".

Rempel took fifth in the pole vault clearing 9'2".

Gardner added another first place finish with her leap of 17'6.25" in the long jump. Cornell had a leap of 14'3.5". Bargen had a jump of 13'4".

Gardner picked up yet another first place point package in the triple jump when she covered 35'3.25".

Dane Miller took seventh place in the 100 meter dash with his time of 11.84 seconds.


Gavin Ekstein was in sixth place in the 200 meter dash with his time of 23.75 seconds. Clayton Morris posted a time of 25.96 seconds in a preliminary heat.

Ekstein took eighth place in the 400 meter dash with his time of 54.38 seconds. Matthew Colgrove had a time of 58.53 seconds.

Brett Miller had a time of 2:20.49. Miller listed a time of 5:28.18 for the 1600 meter run.

D. Miller crossed the finish line of the 100 meter hurdles in first place with his time of 15.6 seconds.

He secured the first place points of the 300 meter hurdles with his time of 41.49 seconds. Aiden Humphries posted a time of 47.02 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team was disqualified.

The 4 x 400 meter relay time of Humphries, B. Miller, Colgrove and Morris had a time of 4:06.5.


Kansas Public Notices

Seth Schnakenberg landed first place in the shot put with his toss of 47'6.4". Payton Christiancy was in seventh place with his toss of 43'10". Luke Jameson had a best toss of 39/3".

Schankenberg was in first place in the discus with his throw of 149'11". Christiancy had a throw of 109'8". Jameson had a throw of 109"8". jameson had a throw of 98'4".

Morris was in fifth place in the pole vault with a bar clearing effort of 10'6".

Ekstein took eighth place in the long jump with a leap of 18'9.25". Colgrove had a leap of 17'7.75". Jacob Meyer had a jump of 16'6.5".

Meyer was in fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 36'10.25".

Owen Perrie had a time of 14.66 seconds in the boys 100 meter dash at the Del Wicks Invite in Deshler. Caiden Smullins listed a time of 15.82 seconds.


Dylan Edwards posted a time of 29.07 seconds for the 200 meter dash. Smullins had a time of 32.89 seconds.

Tanner Theis was in eighth place in the 400 meter dash with his time of 1:00.85. Thomas Mathis recorded a time of 1:16. 55.

Theis had a time of 2:32.25 for the 800 meter run.

Hunter Mazzulla picked up fifth place points with his time of 5.27.7 for the 1600 meter run. Derek Kirchhoff recorded a time of 6:42 for the event.

Mazzulla landed the first place points in the 3200 meter run with his time of 11:28.42.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Cristian Avalos, Edwards, Theis and Perrie finished in sixth place with the time of 54.4 seconds.

Henry Griljava held sixth place in the shot put with his toss of 34'11". Christian Osweiler had a best toss of 28'3.5". Riedar Vier had a toss of 64'('.


Griljava had a best throw of 81' for the discus. Osweiler had a throw of 72'2". Vier had his best throw of 64'9".

Perrie had a leap of 13'9.5" for the long jump. Mathis finished at 12'5.5". Smullins had a leap of 12'4.256".

Edwards was in sixth place in the triple jump covering 33'7.25".

Cayce Barry had a time of 15.66 seconds in the girls 100 meter dash. Katie Engelhardt finished in 16.8 seconds. Alicia Temes had a time of 18.12 seconds.

Mikynzie Hansen had a time of 34.92 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Rebecca Tadeo-Perez had a time of 35.8 seconds. Engelhardt came in at 36.05 seconds.

Faith Butler grabbed third place in the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:08.96. Tadeo-Perez posted a time of 1:22.77.


` Butler collected second place points for the 1600 meter run with her time of 6:32.28. Brooklyn Grabast had a time of 16:12. 14.

Hailey Blecha was in sixth place in the 3200 meter run with her time of 15:55.75. Grabast finished the run with the time of 16:12.14.

Hansen took seventh place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.61 seconds.

Lily Edwards took seventh place in the shot put with her toss of 29'. Mia Gardner had a toss of 27'4.5".

M. Gardner had a best throw of 75' for the discus. Temes has a throw of 59'5".

Barry took the fifth place points in the high jump with a height of 4'4". L. Edwards cleared 4".

Butler was in seventh place in the pole vault at 7'. Engelhardt recorded a height of 6',

The Wildcats will compete at the Southern Nebraska Conference meet at Fairbury, Saturday, April 30.
