Deichen enters guilty plea related to Burr Oak robbery

Tuesday the United States Attorney’s office for the District of Kansas reported a Hastings resident, Cody Deichen, 26, had admitted to aiding and abetting in the brandishing and use of a home built .223 caliber AR-15 style rifle during the robbery of the Burr Oak office of the Guaranty State Bank.

A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 27.

The FBI and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation assisted with the investigation of the case.

Assistant U. S. Attorney Sara Walton is prosecuting the case.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2021, a white male wearing all black and carrying a rifle entered the bank. He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and left Burr Oak in an apparently stolen pickup.

The pickup was recovered later that day hidden behind cdar trees near the intersection of 20 and Ash roads in northwest Jewell County.
