Robin Bargen experiences Irish 'princess' life-style
Local resident gets to experience the princess lifestyle

It's not every day that you may be able to experience being a princess. But when your sister wants to be married in a castle, what else can you do? Robin Bargen's sister met a wonderful person seven years ago in a pub at Waterford, Ireland. They enjoyed each other's company, so they stayed in contact with each other through Facebook. As time went on, Shelley met with Philip again in Ireland. Then the long-distance relationship formed a loving bond. Wedding plans were made and the destination wedding was to be in Waterford Castle in Ireland. Waterford Castle is in the same town where Shelley and Philip met. The wedding had to be postponed because of COVID. Shelley and Philip could not see each other for a year because of COVID lock downs.
On April 19, Robin Bargen left for the experience of a lifetime. When she got to Ireland, Robin was greeted by lush green landscapes everywhere. She rode from Dublin on a 3-hour train trip to Waterford. The castle was situated on a small island with a golf course. The family and close friends rented the whole castle for the wedding of Shelley and Philip. This is a story that fairytales are made of.
The castle is said to be haunted by a quiet ghost named Mary. Robin met an actual ghost hunter while she was in the castle. Robin was treated like a princess while she stayed at the castle. When eating a 4-course dinner, the waiter placed a napkin on her lap and handed her a menu. She didn't know what to think about that. Between the courses they could get up and mingle with the other family members and friends. It was fun to meet family members Robin had never met before.
The conversation and verbiage are different there. While talking to others you may hear, "Excuse me, lovely." Everyone seemed happy and relaxed. Robin had a professional makeup artist and hairstylist get her ready for the wedding. Since she is also a professional hairstylist, she could compare the work and study that goes into the craft. The Irish people study a short time, then they work under a professional as an apprentice for a while until they go out on their own. "They are not as stressed as we are here. They have hands-on learning and not as much schooling as we do." The overall atmosphere was relaxed and casual. Even though people do work in Ireland, they take their work casually rather than hard driven like many Americans do.
While in Ireland, Robin met a mountain climber who made it to the top of Mr. Everest and some Nebraska Husker cheerleaders. The cheerleaders were in Ireland to promote the game they are to have in October this year.
Robin said waking up in a castle is an unreal experience. It's like a fantasy come true. Watching Shelley walk down the aisle to the love of her life was wonderful. Shelley treated us to the princess experience we would not have normally.
The overwhelming feeling that has stayed with Robin is, "I'm so happy for my sister. She's always there for everyone else. I'm glad we could come to the other side of the world to see her marry her prince charming."
