L-N boys golf

 


The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys golf team took first place honors, with a team score of 232, at the Cyndi Peil Scramble hosted by Blue Hill High School last Tuesday. The match was played over the Red Cloud Golf Course. The event was scramble play over nine holes with two players combining their scores for the round total. Other teams at the event were Blue Hill, Red Cloud, Superior, Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Silver Lake, Exeter-Milligan and Deshler.

The Raiders played the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational over the Southern Hills course at Hastings Thursday. The Raiders took home fifth place in the 12 team field with their score of 379 for the 18-hole match. Other teams which played the event were Doniphan-Trumbull, Grand Island Central Catholic, Thayer Central, Hastings St. Cecilia, Fillmore Central, Franklin, Sandy Creek, Wood River, Sutton and Fullerton.

At the Peil event, Connor Janda and Krayton Kucera combined for a round of 77. Janda carded a 37 while Janda turned in a round of 40. Toby Kotinek and Bayln Bargen dropped off a combined round of 77. Kotinek was in at 38 with Bargen finishing with a 39. Wyatt Hajny and Wyatt Brockman closed with a combined round of 78. Brockman handed in a 37 and Hajny handed in a round of 41.


Kotinek carded a round of 89 which was good for 14th place in the individual standings.. Janda closed out a round of 92. Kucera left the course with a round of 98. Brockman posted a round of 100. Hajny finished at 103. The four lowest scores were used to compilke the team.

The Raiders play at the Twin Valley Conference match today (Thursday). The match is being hosted by Franklin High School. The Thayer Central Invitational at Hebron is scheduled for Wednesday.
