2 percent cost of living raise approved for hourly employees

 


The Jewell County Commissioners met Monday, May 2. Commissioners Steve Greene, Brent Beck and Keith Roe, and Carla J. Waugh, county clerk, were present for the meeting.

The commissioners discussed a cost of living raise for hourly employees. It was approved to give the hourly employees a 2 percent raise effective for the June 2022 pay check.

Phillip Murrow said he is the new sanitarian, as he is filling the vacancy as result of Sherry Koster’s resignation. He will continue to work through Smith County Health Department.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed road projects. Carla Waugh said Jewell County received a check in the amount of $3,374.50 for the surplus property from the Becker & Bouray Consignment Auction. The commissioners discussed road and bridge concerns.

It was approved for the proper officer to sign the management representation letter to the auditor


At the request of Don Jacobs, sheriff, the commissioners, Carla Waugh and Jacobs went into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel. Regular session resumed with no action taken.

Karen Boden, Pawnee Mental Health Services board member, requested the commissioners approval on the Proclamation for May as Mental Health Awareness Month. The commissioners approved.
